In tonight's yoga class, the teacher decided to create a new pose called "Dani-Asana" based on something I do between poses. It involves wiggling a bit while you let out a little sigh.
Listening to Abba makes it much easier to run a mile. Oddly enough.
Also, *why* did I decide I was going to go running twice today? Don't know, but I did, and thankfully I didn't die. I could even do yoga after the second run. Not bad after a few days off exercise.
And finally, this amuses me *much* more than it probably should. It's like two of my worlds decided, "hey, of course - why not join forces? Life's so much more fun that way!"
Life is interesting.

After quite the weekend at Halloween Town with the niecelet and
belistiwa, I woke up today to find out that TEEN WITCH is on! I watched this movie endlessly when I was 13. It was goofy, and horrible, and hysterical. And yes, I kinda wanted to be her. And I kinda wanted to be... well... ON her. Yeah. But still. Cheesiest movie of all time, completely 80s, and just awesome.
If you haven't seen it, here's two of my favorite scenes. Warning: if you aren't into cheesy as HELL, or if you can't deal with 80s overload, this may not be for you.
Interestingly, Nick isn't that into it. Well, except for all the awesome 80s synth music. Oh, that, and he modified "Top That" to be a song about the cat.

This morning in the car, I heard that Clay Aiken finally came out. Good for him! It must be a relief after denying it for so long. Good times, good times. The radio station played a really bad parody to accompany the news, but whatever. I'm still happy for him.
In other news, this morning's trip to Russo's has yielded my next Insane Food Adventure™: curing my own olives. They had cases of fresh ones available for $3 a pound, so I picked up a couple of pounds and am now soaking them in water. Have to search the internets later for a recipe. I'm becoming quite the urban homesteader, it seems.
In other other news, thinking a lot about urban development, "all men are created equal" and what bullshit that's turned out to be in practice lately. Sunday, I had a conversation with a quite interesting Republican about schools in low-income neighborhoods, and the fact that these kids don't have an environment where they can succeed, so only a very few can - while the rest flounder. Meanwhile, in the middle-class and upper-income communities, even in the public schools kids have environments where success is an expectation. It's a no-brainer. Clean hallways, plenty of after-school activities, teachers that give a shit. There isn't enough of that in lower-income neighborhoods, and I'm wondering how we can fix that.
Surprisingly, this is becoming a major hot-button issue for me; so much so that I'm brainstorming ideas for how this could be improved. I think it's about recreating the environment; as Bill Strickland says, "you build prisons, you get prisoners; you build a world-class institution, you get world-class people." He's proven it over and over again with the Manchester Craftsman's Guild. I think we need more of that kind of thinking in our inner cities.

Tonight's venture to Club Café's karaoke night turned out much more interesting than I expected. ( cut 'cuz I care - but it was fun. )
I haven't had one of these nights in a very, very long time. I'll hurt tomorrow, but tonight was good.
Oh yeah - networking event prior to Club Café was also good.
